A Halfway House provides those who are recovering from alcohol and/or drug addiction and who have completed treatment with a place that is a residence and treatment program. Halfway Houses aim to re-integrate residents into society by giving them a regular residential experience with a peer group who are also attempting to maintain sobriety. Halfway Houses help with employment searches and provide regular treatment programs. The treatment program includes individual therapy sessions, group therapy sessions and a range of other rehabilitation programs. The recovery process of each resident is monitored. The minimum stay at a Halfway House is 30 days, after which is it hoped that the resident will have the tools to maintain a sober life and is able to re-enter society.
