The challenges and negative temptations the youth of today are regularly exposed to are quite alarming. Very few people take this segment of society seriously, until something bad happens and the consequences of which have to be dealt with either by the authorities or family members. Picking up the pieces is often a monumental task and in some sad cases where death or permanent disability is among the consequence, the road to “recovery” is long and painful. The South Carolina authorities understand just how much pressure the youth today are faced with, and this has spurned them to create as many support platforms as possible to address the various issues these youth have to deal with everyday. Substance abuse, alcohol abuse and sexual promiscuity are among the highest challenges faced by the youth and families are often at a loss as to how to handle such challenges. Some of the support systems in place are designed to help identify and reduce the elements that are attracting or creating the platform for these youth to indulge in negative activities.
